In fact most IAD are not exactly hated by regular Cops but they are TOTALLY separate. They don’t make friends with regular Cops…hang out with regular Cops. They won’t be seen at cook outs or Cop bars hanging out with Cops. They have one mission. To Police the Police and if you’re dirty they make it their mission to destroy you. If you are generally a good Cop but make a mistake…they make you pay the price. No exceptions. They’re not our buddies who will give you a pass or a wink. They get promoted by getting Cop Scalps. No scalps ..no promotions no career. They don’t give breaks ever.

Some justices have made speeches that appear to compromise their objectivity. Each justice seems to be able to decide what is and is not ethical for themselves. This is a chance for the court to set up standards that apply to all of them. Even self-policing standards would be better than no standards, and would serve as a baseline for considering impeachment.If the court fails to set up ethics standards, Congress could and should do so. Roberts talks a lot about maintaining the objectivity of the court, but so far he has done nothing but talk. If Congress set up ethics standards for Supreme Court justices (it would be easy to copy and modify existing standards for lower courts) there would still be major questions about enforcing them because of separation of powers. Nevertheless Congress should start to take action. Maybe this would spur the court to head off congressional standards by setting their own standards.Unfortunately the current split government makes it difficult for Congress to move forward on this or any other issue. It is a difficult situation, but the current lack of standards is becoming untenable. Roberts needs to stop talking and take action.
